Best CSR minds congregate at conclave at IIFM.
The annual CSR conclave held at the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal became the melting pot of ideas regarding burning CSR issues. Dr A Mahendra Raju, visiting professor of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, during a keynote address at CSR Conclave at Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) in Bhopal said that, "Socially responsible investment will help corporate social responsibility (CSR) link corporate with society. There is also a need for socially conscious people to bring about change at ground level".
According to IIFM director G A Kinhal, "the conclave aimed at analyzing framework of an actionable approach for CSR policies and provide a road for synergizing business capital with social capital"
At the event, "COMMUNICADO"- the magazine published by communication cell, IIFM was launched, which includes articles written by IIFM teachers, alumni and students.
Sushama Oza, CEO, Adani Foundation and one of the speakers at the event, enlightened the audience about the CSR mandate in the Companies Act, 2013 and pointed out gaps that exist between actual and mandated CSR budget.
Senior manager (CSR) Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Kolkata, Tejbir Singh Bhandari spoke on implementation of CSR projects in eastern region pipeline of IOCL.
Deputy programme head, Reliance Foundation Vamsee Krishna drew attention towards opportunities in different sectors for CSR.
The event concluded with a village CSR model competition where in participants had to prepare a realistic CSR model for village panchayat level for Rs 50 lakh.
XLRI, Jamshedpur team of Replika Sarma and Nischaya Bhala won competition and got a cash prize of Rs 20,000. They presented a model of generating livelihoods for rag pickers called "Waste Masters." First runners-up Gaurav Sinha, Nishant Jain and Utkarsh Jaiswal and second runners-up was Prabhat Ranjan were all from IIFM.
